Northern Housing Consortium
We are a member of The Northern Housing Consortium; an organisation made up of local authorities, ALMOs, housing associations and service providers working within the social housing sector.
Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV)
As an authorised installer of workplace and home charging points through the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), businesses and consumers are able to use SMS’s installation services via the grant-funded Workplace and Homecharge schemes.
Purpose Goals
SMS is a signatory of the Purpose Coalition – a collective of purpose-led companies, universities, and public sector organisations committed to making positive impacts on communities through support of the UK Government’s levelling up agenda. The 14 Purpose Goals set out clear objectives for improving social mobility and spreading opportunity.
Race at Work Charter
We are a signatory of the Business in the Community ‘Race at Work Charter’. The charter is for organisations who have made seven key commitments for improving racial equality in the workplace.
Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC)
We are a member of the RECC, which sets out high consumer protection standards for businesses involved in selling or leasing renewable energy generation systems to domestic consumers.
Retail Energy Code (REC)
As of 2021, all metering codes from the previous MRA and SPAA bodies transitioned to REC, this includes all Meter Equipment Managers (MEM) accreditations (MOP/MAP/MAM). The REC represents a step-change for the metering industry with a mission to elevate customer outcomes through promoting innovation and competition

We have newly engaged with S&P Global and are pleased that our latest rating of 46, based on data released in 2022, puts us in the 92nd Percentile.

SafeContractor is the market leading accreditation for any trade, assessing business on their health and safety, equal opportunities, diversity and environmental management practices, and allowing customers to reduce risk in their supply chain.
Sustainable Development Goals
We are signed to the global registry of voluntary commitments in support of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); a set of global goals adopted by all United Nations Member States as a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
Sustainalytics – Score: 11.5
Sustainalytics is a global leader in research and ratings, specifically measuring companies’ exposure to ESG risks and how well they manage them on a scale from 1-50. In 2023, SMS was ranked with an overall score of 11.5.
Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
By publicly declaring support for the TCFD and its recommendations, companies demonstrate that they are taking action to build a more resilient financial system through climate-related disclosure.
United Nations Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact is a non-binding United Nations pact to encourage businesses and firms worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.

Van Excellence is a scheme designed with safety and efficiency at its core, facilitated and managed by Logistics UK. The Van Excellence Standards represent the best practice standards required to ensure the safe operation of van fleets regardless of fleet size or their industry sector.
Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Solutions (VCIS)
The Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Solutions (VCIS) agreement, part of the Crown Commercial Service Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) framework, offers customers in central government and the wider public sector access to products and services that support electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
