Driving Shared Success: SMS Introduces Employee Ownership
SMS is proud to introduce Employee Ownership with the launch of its pioneering Employee Participation Plan.
This is a significant step in recognising and rewarding the contributions of SMS’s workforce. The launch of the plan follows the take private of the company through an investment by KKR’s global infrastructure business earlier this year and will provide all SMS employees the opportunity to directly participate in the company’s future success.
This initiative seeks to cultivate a sense of ownership among SMS employees, focusing on aligning their contributions with the company’s long-term goals of driving the UK’s Net Zero goals and positioning SMS at the heart of the energy transition. By empowering employees to actively participate in creating future value, SMS underscores its commitment to building a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, and sustainable growth.
Chief Executive Officer of SMS, Tim Mortlock, said:
“SMS has consistently placed a strong emphasis on the well-being, development, and empowerment of our team. This new Employee Participation Plan is a strong testament to our commitment to recognising their invaluable contributions and dedication. By providing our employees with the opportunity to share in the company’s success, we are enhancing our workplace culture and reinforcing our collective commitment to achieving shared objectives and sustained growth.”

“At KKR, we believe that empowering employees is a powerful first step toward building a true culture of ownership. The launch of SMS’s Employee Participation Plan shows the commitment to fostering a culture where employees are true partners in the journey of value creation.
